Saturday morning started off with breakfast at PJ’s.
Oat bran muffin, half a banana, and coffee for me.
The Parents and I walked around downtown for a bit before heading to the practice field to hang with Zach and company.
Zach’s good friends viagra tabs from UGA rode from Nashville to Baton Rouge on a fancy tour bus (previously Luke Bryan’s) so Darius Rucker could do a meet and greet for a radio show. Incidentally, my mother loves Darius and has long been a Hootie and the Blowfish fan, of course, her love of him has rubbed off on me.
After hanging out on the tour bus for a couple of hours leading up to the concert, we had to get off so Darius could do his meet and greet. When Darius rode up in the golf cart all my mom could say was “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God”. Darius casually gave us a wave (!!!) before getting on the bus as we waited outside with a few other guys, hoping Pervus could score us a picture.
Then my dad walks over to where my mom and I are standing and asks who’s in the bus. We both tell him matter of faculty. So then he strolls on over to where Pervus is standing beside the door of the bus. Dad mutters something to Pervus and then bam, Darius walks out and my dad Forrest Gumps a hand shake. My mom and I just stared in awe. That little turd.
Once we got over that incident, we made our way to the concert…
Saturday night’s line up was Thompson Square, Darius Rucker, Miranda Lambert, and Lady Antebellum.
We arrived for the tail end of Thompson Square — just in time for Darius Rucker — woohoo! He was the highlight of the weekend next to Zac Brown Band and Luke Bryan (Both of whom Zach got to meet back stage. Oh, the perks of being a starting QB…:|).
Darius closed with Wagon Wheel and Lady Antebellum came out to sing it with him. It was awesome so we left on that note.
Sunday morning called for sleeping in after realizing we started too early the day before. Oops.
Church at noon and then a late lunch after.
Couldn’t leave Sophie alone in the hotel so she brunched with us also. 😉
After brunch, we took an afternoon bike ride along the levee and through campus.
No worries, we made sure to visit Mike.
He was a sleepy tiger, catching some R&R on a Sunday afternoon. I snapped a few shots of Mike before we rode back to the hotel to wash up and get ready for the night ahead.
Sunday night’s line up included Rodney Atkins, The Band Perry, Luke Bryan, and Zac Brown Band. We arrived just in time for The Band Perry and stayed until the very end. Zac Brown is one hell of a guitar player. Jimmy De Martini was incredible on the fiddle, too.
Forgive me for the less than perfect quality of my iPhone pictures. Can’t say that the environment was all that safe for my Canon.
Home atlas on this beautiful Memorial Day afternoon! As soon as I set down my bags, I remembered I was expecting mail…
Slightly Stoopid and Chris Scott over at Silverback Music sent me this package from
above Cali. These guys are the real deal and if you aren’t already a Slightly Stoopid fan you better start listening. I might even let you borrow an album. 😉 Cheers to saving a shit ton of money on iTunes! Thanks again guys!
Hope your Memorial Day weekend has been a blast. A big thanks to the men and women who fight for our freedom. ‘Merica!
