Thursday Things 8/22

Hey y’all!

How’s your Thursday been so far? Mine started with an 8am class with a lot still on the agenda for the evening and I’m already exhausted. It’s that time again…Oy vey.

Some happenings since we last spoke…

1. Today marks the birthday of my dear friend and roomie. Happy Birthday Jilli!!

3. Back to school dinner

I whipped up a deeelish meal on Tuesday night as a little before classes start back hoorah. On the menu: fiery Jamaican jerk marinated chicken breasts, squash and zucchini, and quinoa. The marinade was a Target find and it was sooo good and buy viagra new york relatively inexpensive. I definitely suggest you scope out Archer Farms brand marinades next time you make a Tarjay run. I know I sure will.

4. First rec workout of the semester

After first semester last year I stopped going to the campus rec center since I had started a membership at a local CrossFit box. Of course I loved CrossFit but I seriously started missing the rec center. Especially over the summer when my membership was up for CrossFit and I couldn’t go to the rec since I wasn’t enrolled in school. Now that fall semester is back in action I finally got a workout in at the rec, yippee! I did 45 minutes of intervals on the elliptical and then some abdominal work and I am one sore cookie cause of it!

5. The best breakfast EVER

The other morning I woke up craving something savory which is toootally out of character for me. (I’m a sweet breakfast eater all the way.) There was some chicken sausage in the freezer waiting to be eaten so decided it was time.

I cooked the sausage on the stove top in some butter and then cooked an egg over hard in the same pan then put the two on a piece of Ezekiel pita with a few thousand dashes of hot sauce and ate it like a taco. OHMIGAWD, it tasted just like a piece of pizza! Oddly enough… And only around 250 calories which is slim eatin’ according to my standards. Served alongside some fresh fruit, it was the perfect first day of class meal. Definitely one to add to the bfast rotation.

Time Flies

Well hey there strangers!

As you can tell, I took a break from the ole blog due to my recent crazy busy schedule.

The beginning of this month one of my roomies moved in and shortly after that we had rush female viagra cream workshop and the following week was sorority recruitment.

In case you didn’t know, I’m a student at the University of Alabama and an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Another tidbit you may or may not have known: sorority recruitment at UA is RIDICULOUS! There were 2113 potential new members this year and AGD snagged 112 of them for the most perfect new pledge class (next to my own, of course).

I would have been back earlier this week but I was feeling under the weather thanks to some awful sinus pressure and a killer migraine. No worries though, I’m almost back to 100%! Just in time for classes to start tomorrow…

I still cannot wrap my brain around how fast freshman year went by. As clique as it sounds, it feels like only yesterday I was just starting college! Crazy how time flies when you’re having fun. 😉

Now for the recipe, shall we?

Protein Power Bites

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c dried apricots
  • 1/2 c pitted medjool dates
  • 1/3 c sunflower butter or nut butter of choice
  • 3 heaping Tbsp Vanilla Spiced Chia protein powder
  • 1/4 c honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch sea salt
  • unsweetened shredded coconut (optional)

Directions

In a small food processor add everything except the coconut and pulse until it starts trying to form one big ball. You may have to adjust your measurements a lil if the consistency isn’t just right.

Next, form into ballz and roll in shredded coconut. Or not…your call.

Makes 12 pingpong/golf ball sized bites.

This is totally a blank canvas recipe. Feel free to throw in whatever mix in’s your little heart desires. Here are a few of my suggestions…

  • dark, milk, white choco chips (or butterscotch if you’re feeling dangerous)
  • goji berries
  • hemp seeds
  • chia seeds
  • dried cherries, raisins, etc…

The possibilities are endless, my friends.

Also, my apologies for not posting this yesterday like I had planned/promised. My mom was in town yesterday to help run some last minute errands before my roomies move in (yaaay!) so I sorta lost all track of time.

Fam Jam Reunion + Food Preppin'

Hey guys! What’s been crackalackin’?

I spent Thursday thru yesterday morning in Fairhope for a fam jam reunion.

Lots of fun spent with my people. The Parents and I are on the far right. 🙂

We had quite the time in Fairhope, biking and shopping all over the place. On Sunday evening we biked about a mile down from our popular online pharmacy hotel to The Wash House, a restaurant my parents had eaten at before and gave it great reviews, only to find they were booked for the night. D’oh! Should’ve made reservations. 😐

I was kind of bummed our dinner plans fell through because the bread pudding on The Wash House website looks to DIE for. We ended up riding back and just having dinner at the hotel which was mighty delicious, btw. The pretty view didn’t hurt either.

Today has been about getting settled back in lil T-Town before the ball starts rolling. And from the looks of it, it’s going to be rolling quickly without any signs of stopping. On Friday one of my roomies will be moving in (eeek!) and then Saturday two of my friendsies will be “moving in” until their place is ready on the 16th and then on the 17th my other roomie will join us. With rush workshop, rush, classes, a new work schedule, project health training and goodness knows what else I’m gonna be busy!

Anyways.

I was up bright and early so I could hit up the farmer’s market. Here’s the treasure I brought back, all for $12. Farmer’s market FTW!

After my trip to the FM I came home for some sunflower seed and almond butter toast with banana slices. No picture because I know you guys have seen that one a zillion times. Once I polished off breakfast I got to work on some food prepping for the following week.
